Why a production company makes films
Every ad, event film and reel we make borrows from narrative filmmaking: framing a scene, building tension, cutting on emotion. Making short films is how we practise that craft properly, without a client brief shaping every decision.

48Hours 2026
Chrono-Narcos: top 25 in New Zealand at 48Hours
We entered the 2026 48Hours film challenge, where teams write, shoot and edit a short film in a single weekend. Our team, Midnight Sunburn, made Chrono-Narcos, and it was named on the 48Hours 2026 National Shortlist: the top 25 films in the country, out of more than 500 entries.
We made it with a crew of local Queenstown people, shooting around the Wakatipu Basin. The behind-the-scenes reel shows what a 48-hour shoot looks like from the inside.
The whole production, or just the crew you need
Some projects want us from the first read-through to the final export. Others need a camera operator for a week, an editor, or someone to shoot the behind-the-scenes. Both are fine.
Queenstown Camera Co sponsors our cinema camera hire, and we bring our own audio, lighting and drone (with CAA clearance where needed). Everything is captured in 4K. For bigger shoots we call on people we trust around Queenstown and Melbourne: cinematographers, sound recordists, editors, colourists and production assistants.
